Philip MohochiRetired banker and community leader Philip Masero Mohochi was born in Kuria West district in Kenya. He was educated in Isibania Primary, St. John’s Seminary in Rakwaro, and Chogoria High School. He worked for the Standard Chartered Bank between 1975 and 1998, rising from a Bank Clerk to a Customer Service Manager. While at Standard Bank, Mr. Philip studies banking and accounting, skills that he used in helping the Kuria teacher’s SACCO to establish a banking section. In 2007 he left the teacher’s SACCO upon reaching the retirement age, and he has since been involved in several community development initiatives. He is actively involved in his local church where he is a' member of the development committee and secretary of the liturgical committee. Philip is the chairman of the Kuria Community development Committee (CDC) of Nuru International., a US Non-Profit working on poverty alleviation projects in Nyametaburo Sub-location in Kuria West. |

Joseph Marwa MunikoRetired public administrator Joseph Marwa Muniko was born and brought up in Kuria District Kenya. He was educated in Kenya, receiving his training at Nyang’ori Teachers Training College. He worked as teacher for twenty two years, rising to the position of Head teacher. He was later employed as a chief and rose to the rank of a senior chief. During his career, Joseph attended several courses on administration, supervision, management, human relation, and population & development among others. He retired in 2000 after which he has been appointed as a member of the Board of Governors in several Secondary schools and in the District Education Board. He has also worked as a member of the Land Dispute Tribunal and is currently the Chairman of the Kuria District traders Organization.

Syprine Wegesa ChachaDeputy head teacher Syprine Wegesa Chacha was born and brought up in Kuria District, Kenya. She was educated in Kenya, receiving her P1 teacher training course in Thogoto Teachers training College in Kikuyu, Kenya. She has been in the teaching profession since 1985. She has taught in Eldoret municipality, Nairobi City, Kisii municipality, and currently in Kuria district. Syprine is currently the Deputy Head teacher, Igena Primary school in Kehancha Kuria. She was a secretary of Mugango Women Group in Isibania, an organization that worked to assist the poor, widows, orphans and those affected or infected with HIV/AIDS in Kuria. Currently, she is the secretary of Msenangu, another women group in Isibania, Kuria.

Gladys Kahombi GimongeRetired teacher Member, KCC Gladys Kahombi Gimonge was born and brought up in Vihiga District in Kenya. After her secondary education, she got married in Kuria District. She trained as a P2 teacher in Kaimosi Teachres Training College in Kenya. She retired in 1999 after teaching for 36 years, having worked in Tarang’anya, Ikerege, Nyamotambe and Gwikonge all in Kuria. She is currently an active member of the PEFA church in Ikerege. She is also a committee member of Komomange dispensary, Ikerege primary and secondary schools. Gladys has also worked with World Vision projects in Ikerege, Kenya.

Emmanuel O. NyakoniMember, KCC Emmanuel Ombasa Nyakoni was born and brought up in Isibania in Kuria District, Kenya. After his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E.), he joined Kenya Industrial Training Institute (K.I.T.I.) for a certificate course in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Nyakoni now runs a welding and fabrication workshop in Isibania town.
